National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) is the national source for air, space, and cyberspace intelligence. By working with us, you’ll help discover and characterize the capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of our Nation’s adversaries. As a NASIC employee, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts, working together to solve technical challenges. The organizational location of this position: National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) (HAF/A2/A6), Global Exploitation Group, Signals Analysis Squadron (GXS) Wright- Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Salary: $146,807 - $195,200

You must be a US citizen to be eligible for a position at NASIC, and you must be able/willing to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed upon hire.

The primary purpose of this position is: This position is responsible for leading the development and design of tools and analysis systems in support of the Signals Analysis Squadron (GXS) requirements to build and design tools to facilitate analysis, automation, and reprogramming for Technical Signals Intelligence (TechSIGINT) analysis tools and related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Squadron’s representative to internal and external customers on issues related to systems development.
  • Develops and maintains Squadron roadmap for tool modernization and upgrades.
  • Serves as a functional expert on SIGINT processing and exploitation issues.
  • Provides continual recommendations/updates and garners final direction from the Squadron Commander.
  • Provides professional leadership and mentoring to personnel across the Squadron, discussing opportunities for personal growth in technical areas as appropriate.

Qualifications

  1. Professional knowledge of a wide range of theories, principles, practices, and techniques of engineering to apply to the design, development, evaluation, and upgrade of GXS signals analysis tools and their sub-systems.

  1. Knowledge and work experience in the areas of signal data theory, related signal exploitation techniques, and evaluation; ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technical and procedural advances, and ability to apply engineering knowledge to formulate recommendations to squadron leadership to meet future tool development recommendations and requirements.

  1. Knowledge of program management techniques, to include requirements, acquisition, exploitation, and sustainment (both organic and contractual), management concepts, funding procedures, and cost, schedule, performance evaluation methodology.

  1. Knowledge of and skill in providing strategic direction and technical guidance to Squadron leadership for the development, sustainment, and enhancement of current and future organizational tool and software developments.

  1. Strong communication and team/network building skills to coalesce critical technical challenges through various teams, organizations, and group to meet a common design goal; an effective representative of NASIC, the AF, the DoD and in some cases, the U.S. interests in various levels of government.

  1. Skill in written and oral communication to express and clearly communicate policy, processes, and procedures, and to make written and oral presentations to NASIC, the AF, and DoD management.

  1. Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Education or work experience equivalent to a master’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or other physical science is desirable. Certifications in program management is also desirable.

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed and a polygraph may be required.
  • PCS expenses are not authorized

  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide
  • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic drug testing
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
  • Employee must maintain current certifications
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments
  • The work is primarily sedentary. Items carried typically include briefcases, notebooks, working papers, references, data print outs, and suitcases. A moderate amount of standing and walking is required in getting to and from meetings
  • The workspace is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. There is occasional noise from office equipment, such as printers, fax machines, and telephones. The employee is required to perform in varying office and meeting environments
  • The incumbent observes normal safety precautions when working in and travelling away from the work site.
