Payroll Specialist

Based in the greater Arlington, TX area

The Payroll Specialist will perform essential duties and execute, lead, and direct the workflow of the Payroll Department to ensure that all payroll is processed accurately and on time and that accounts payable invoices are properly coded and processed promptly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compile payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, employee withholdings, and employee identification numbers from timesheets and other records.
  • Prepare computer input forms, enter data into payroll systems, compute wages and deductions, and post to payroll records.
  • Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure accuracy.
  • Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee.
  • Maintain records of employee transfers between departments.
  • Allocate payroll expenses to appropriate departments for cost accounting.
  • Prepare periodic reports on earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll and employee benefit accounts monthly and quarterly.
  • Maintain records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
  • Prepare and issue paychecks.
  • Process monthly Edge Credit accruals and assist in payment submissions.

Accounts Payable Responsibilities

  • Code and process accounts payable invoices weekly.
  • Submit invoices to the corporate office.
  • Perform general filing and data entry related to accounts payable.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of payroll processing or accounting experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and proficiency in spreadsheet applications (Excel).
  • Strong employee relations experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency.
  • Strong analytical skills for resolving discrepancies.
  • High energy and positive attitude.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) or a combination of eight years of related experience and/or training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience is required.
