Description:

The Test Equipment Technician will report directly to the Test System Design Engineer and will be responsible for the hands-on tasks of building, implementing, and sustaining test equipment used in the production and validation of our products. This role involves collaborating closely with the Test System Design Engineer and other cross-functional teams to understand testing requirements and ensure the reliable performance of test equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a thorough understanding of test methodologies, and the ability to execute tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Construction and Assembly:

  • Assemble and construct custom test equipment according to detailed schematics, CAD models, and technical drawings provided by the Test System Design Engineer.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, control systems, and data acquisition tools into test equipment.

Implementation and Integration:

  • Assist in the installation, calibration, and configuration of test equipment in production environments.
  • Ensure seamless integration of test equipment with existing manufacturing processes and systems.

Maintenance and Support:

  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for test equipment, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the longevity and reliability of test systems.
  • Implement updates and improvements to enhance equipment performance and testing accuracy.

Prototyping and Validation:

  • Support the Test System Design Engineer in building and validating prototypes of test equipment.
  • Conduct initial testing to identify and address design flaws, making necessary adjustments to improve reliability and accuracy.

Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for test equipment, including assembly instructions, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Training and Collaboration:

  • Assist in training production and engineering teams on the use and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and production, to ensure test equipment meets all requirements and standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in test equipment technology.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in building and maintaining test equipment for manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for equipment assembly.
  • Strong understanding of test methodologies and equipment.
  • Experience with data acquisition and control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to test systems and product quality.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with automated and semi-automated test systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and HMI design.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality control methods.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Certification in relevant fields (e.g., Certified Test Technician).
