You will alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus equal to or better than the original construction. This role reports directly to the Alterations Manager.
Alter garment to include the following:
Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders.
Rotate sleeves shorten sleeves as needed
Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders as needed or requested
Shorten coat, re-line coat, and or remake inside or outside pockets
Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
Routinely self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
Complete alterations assigned tasks in an efficient manner, as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
Vocational training in tailoring is preferred; experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, which offered exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics is ideal.
Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
