The Sisters of the Precious Blood are a Roman Catholic congregation of women religious who live a common life and engage in lifelong service to others. Since 1834, the Sisters of the Precious Blood have met the needs of the time. Inspired by Mother Maria Anna Brunner, foundress, and her desire “that not one drop of Jesus’ Precious Blood be shed in vain,” we try to see where the need is great and to respond. As a community of women religious dedicated to the Blood of Christ, we recognize the preciousness of life, the need for reconciliation in our world, and the needs of the poor and those on the margins. We respond to these needs and strive to be a life-giving, reconciling presence.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Spiritual Care Companion located in Trotwood, OH. The Spiritual Care Companion will be responsible for providing pastoral care and support for our retired Sisters residing at Salem Heights or other health centers. The purpose of this position is to provide for the spiritual life of the Sisters in retirement, allowing them to live fully their vowed, consecrated life. The Spiritual Care Companion works as a team member with the Administrator of Salem Heights and the Health and Wellness Coordinator/Nurse Advocate.
Education and Experience
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Ministry or a related field, possess the ability to motivate Sisters with their journey of aging in the right place, and is an effective and sensitive communicator. Prior pastoral ministry, counseling and/or spiritual direction is preferred, especially ministry with a geriatric population. Being a practicing Roman Catholic woman is a requirement.
