Position Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Hours/Shift: M-F 37.5hr/wk
Pay: $65/hr+
Contract: 2025 - 2026 school year (38 weeks)
Job Description/Role Responsibilities:
- Case Load: 40-50 No more than 50 students
- Moderate to Intensive students
- Travel between multiple schools
- Openings can be flexible: elementary-middle, middle-high school, intermediate-middle mix
- High number of kids in caseload will be students with Autism spectrum disorder
- Mild-Intensive needs range
- Provide direct services in language development/articulation for students identified as having a speech-language impairment.
- Provide screening and diagnostic services for students referred for assessment/evaluation.
- Provide interpretation of results of screenings/diagnostic assessments to the IEP or evaluation team.
- Develop and maintain Individual Education Plans for special education students with SL goals.
- Report progress to parents as required.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff regarding academic skills and needs.
- Communicate with parents and colleagues effectively.
- Identifies students with communication disorders through screenings and other referral sources, complying with all due process requirements
- Evaluates to determine if a specific speech or language disability exists through a multifactored evaluation to determine eligibility of services
- Evaluates progress of each student enrolled in therapy consistent with the school grading schedule and for annual IEP review
- Refers for medical or other professional attention necessary for habilitation of speech, voice, hearing or language handicaps
- Provides speech and language services for habilitation or prevention of communication Handicaps
- Provides counseling and guidance for parents, children, and teachers regarding speech and language handicaps
- Assists in the development of curriculum and local policies as related to speech and language disabilities
- Conducts follow-up hearing screenings and referrals for students with communication disorders as needed with students who fail their initial hearing screenings\
- Maintains records sufficient to meet district criteria and to document student progress
- Participates in ongoing professional development activities
- May help mentor student therapists assigned to do student therapy experience in our district
- May help mentor new therapists to our district in need of certification
Qualifications:
Must:
- Texas SLP License
- Master’s Degree
- Autism + Communication device experience
