Position Overview:

The Residential Life Assistant plays a key role in providing support to the residents of the Center for Women and Children, helping to create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for women and children. The assistant will work alongside the Residential Life Coordinator and other team members to ensure the well-being and success of the individuals in residence. This position involves a mix of administrative duties, community engagement, and direct support for residents.

Key Responsibilities:   

• Resident Support: Assist in providing day-to-day support for women and children residing at the center. Offer a listening ear and provide guidance, resources, and referrals as needed.
• Crisis Response: Be present to assist with any emergency or crisis situations that may arise, ensuring the safety and emotional support of residents.
• Facility Oversight: Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming living environment. Ensure that residential spaces are properly maintained and report any facility issues to the Residential Life Coordinator.
• Administrative Support: Assist in the management of resident files, keeping records of interactions, attendance, and any other relevant information.
• Program Implementation: Support the Residential Life Coordinator in executing programs that promote the empowerment and well-being of women and children, including educational workshops, life skills development, and wellness initiatives.
• Resource Coordination: Assist in identifying and connecting residents to external resources such as housing, employment services, counseling, legal aid, or health services.
• Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts or challenges between residents and provide a calm, solution-oriented approach to resolving issues.
• Communication: Maintain clear and respectful communication with residents, team members, and external partners to ensure the smooth operation of residential life.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in social work, psychology, or related fields preferred.
• Previous experience in a social service, residential life, or community-based role is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building rapport with residents.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to working with vulnerable populations.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude when faced with challenges.
