Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Scientist to join our Structural Biology team in San Diego. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in cell culture and the production/purification of Bacmid DNA and recombinant protein to contribute to our ongoing research projects. This position involves active collaboration with a diverse team to address key challenges and advance our research goals.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and optimize cell culture processes for both insect and mammalian cells for heterologous protein expression
• Prepare Bacmid DNA and conduct transfection in insect or mammalian cells.
• Manage both small- and large-scale cultures using shake flasks
• Perform inoculation, feed, infection, sampling, and harvest processes in shaker flasks and bioreactors
• Diligently track and resupply reagents and consumables
• Produce high-quality materials accompanied by appropriate control experiments and thorough documentation
• Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and continuously update skills as needed.
• Identify, report, and troubleshoot any deviations or unexpected outcomes.
• Effectively present research findings and progress to team members through internal reports and during project meetings, as needed
• Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Protein Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field
• Minimum of six months' experience in cell culture and recombinant protein expression
• Minimum of six months' experience in DNA preparation

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of hands-on experience in recombinant protein expression across insect and mammalian cell culture
• Experience with small-scale protein expression and purification
• Exceptional communication skills in English, both oral and written
• Strong problem-solving skills and capability to troubleshoot technical challenges
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment
• Proven ability to manage shifting priorities and timeline constraints effectively
