Manufacturing Engineer

Ducommun's Appleton Performance Center is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, workflow, throughput, space utilization and product quality based on knowledge of product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, capabilities, assembly and quality assurance standards.

Our Facility in Appleton, WI manufactures state-of-the-art circuit boards for Aerospace and Defense as well as Industrial and Medical Industries. 

Job Summary

  • Work with the Customer Value Stream team to ensure on-time delivery of product
  • Develop and procure tooling and jigs
  • Participate in Manufacturing Readiness Review
  • Provide routine technical support to the Operations team
  • Support defect reduction efforts using Statistical Process Controls
  • Support continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to develop process routing
  • Determine root cause and corrective action of non-conforming product and NCMR in MRB meetings.
  • Complete all Corrective Action Records (CAR’s) assigned, in a timely manner.
  • Direct supervisory responsibilities are not included in the job scope of the Manufacturing Engineer. That said, a successful ME has leadership skills, the ability to self-direct, and works effectively both independently and interdependently. The ability to influence others is essential.
  • Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office software applications; experience with Baan ERP, and Catia design package beneficial.
  • Leadership skills are strongly preferred; the ability to influence others is essential.
  • Ability to self-direct and work effectively both independently and interdependently.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical data, blueprints, specifications, etc.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to inquiries from colleagues, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write reports for distribution internally/external and/or publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the organization and outside the organization.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required.
  • Conscientious, organized and meticulous: records must be accurate and maintained.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, scientific, or a technical discipline required. 
  • 1-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with project management preferred.

Depending on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, they will be hired into an entry (I) level, intermediate (II) level or expert (III) level job and pay scale.
