Job Description

The Louisiana Leadership Institute (LLI) stands as a beacon of transformative education in the Greater Baton Rouge Metro Area. LLI is committed to developing leadership skills in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary education students, aiming to empower them with enhanced learning experiences, cultural enrichment, academic prowess, self-esteem, and motivation. MISSION The Louisiana Leadership Institute (LLI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing leadership skills in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary education students. Our mission is to empower students in the Greater Baton Rouge Metro Area by providing programs and services that enhance their learning, cultural experiences, academic skills, self-esteem, and motivation. Through exposure to educational, cultural, and recreational activities, we aim to cultivate leaders for the 21st century.

PROGRAMS

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY Every Saturday, the Louisiana Leadership Institute hosts a Leadership Academy from 10 AM to 12 PM. This program serves as the cornerstone of our organization, providing a platform to educate and inspire Baton Rouge's youth.

MATH MONDAYS Our Math Monday program focuses on enhancing students' math skills through engaging activities, problem-solving exercises, and interactive learning sessions.

DRONE AND AVIATION TRAINING Experience the future of technology with LLI's Drone Training program, where students learn about drone technology, safety protocols, and hands-on piloting skills.

STEM WEDNESDAYS STEM Wednesday at LLI immerses students in the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through exciting experiments, projects, and collaborative challenges.

BAND Our Marching Band program brings together students from various Baton Rouge area schools during the Fall season. This component of LLI fosters collaboration, artistic expression, and team spirit among participants.

DAZZLING STARLETTES The Dazzling Starlettes program offers students the opportunity to express themselves through dance, develop confidence, and showcase their talents in performances throughout the year.

STATEWIDE SPELLING BEE COMPETITION LLI's Statewide Spelling Bee Competition challenges students to excel in language skills, spelling accuracy, and critical thinking, fostering a culture of academic excellence and linguistic prowess.

SUMMER CAMP LLI's Summer Camp offers a fun and enriching experience for students, featuring a range of activities, workshops, and outings designed to promote leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.

VOLUNTEER When you volunteer with the Louisiana Leadership Institute, you become an integral part of our vision to build Strong Kids, Strong Families, and Strong Communities. 

This position reports to the Louisiana Leadership Institute Board of Directors. 

Responsibilities

Fund Development:

  • Lead an annual campaign that raises a minimum of $400,000
  • Manage the donor database
  • Manage donor relations by sending thank you notes and providing periodic follow-up
  • Plan and execute two donor relations events each year
  • Submit grant proposals each year totaling a minimum of $1,000,000 in requests

Facility Management:

  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts
  • Prioritize capital projects and maintenance projects for LLI buildings and grounds
  • Work with the LLI team to manage the facilities owned by LLI

Managing External Communication:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of all social media accounts and content
  • Design and send out quarterly donor updates
  • Oversee special communications sent to stakeholders
  • Write and distribute the annual report

Community Relations Development (10%):

  • Support and incubate innovative programming that benefits LLI
  • Build relationships with community members for the benefit of LLI

Finance Management (10%):

  • Manage the budget for LLI
  • Manage HR and benefits for LLI employees
  • Work with the LLI CFO to develop an annual budget
  • Provide financial projections for lending institutions as needed
  • Manage the annual audit process for LLI from beginning to end 
  • Submit all required financial forms, including (the annual 990, treasury requirements, ethics, etc.)
  • Manage and update all required financial reporting for grants

Organization Management (5%):

  • Hold monthly meetings for the LLI Board of Directors
  • Manage relationships with the LLI Board of Directors
  • Work with the LLI team to manage the facility owned by LLI

Other duties as assigned by the Board

Proposed Qualifications Must have:

  • Minimum three years, preferably 5, of fundraising experience (preferably in Baton Rouge)
  • Minimum two years of finance experience
  • Experience with Strategic Planning and Project Implementation
  • Extremely organized
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create lasting relationships
  • Experience managing an annual campaign
  • Experience establishing policies and procedures/workflows
  • Extremely strong writing skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively
  • Experience managing contracts/vendors

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience working with at-risk students
  • Knowledge of building maintenance
