Job Description

Job Title:   Dump Truck Driver - Hampton Roads

 

Major Role and Purpose

  • Drives Dump Trucks for transporting construction materials to job and plant locations.

Description of Duties :

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Safety maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Pull or push levers to dump materials.
  • Move hand and foot controls to move truck forward and backward to aid in the placement of material.
  • May perform other related duties, such as lifting & moving transported material.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies in accordance with CDL pre-trip guidelines.
  • Use hand tools when necessary.
  • Oil, lubricate, and/or general maintenance of equipment may be required.
  • Knowledge of DOT standards and requirements and adhere to same.
  • Maintain daily log.
  • Understanding verbal & written directions, GPS.
  • Able to communicate with management & foreman on job sites.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED.

Work Experience/Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid C D L, Class B with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience driving commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Vision must be acceptable to both day and night driving.
  • Ability to do basic math.

Physical Demands:

  • Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
  • Must be able to climb up and down a ladder.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
  • Overtime work is required.
  • Physical strength must be enough to climb in and out of truck throughout the workday, carry chutes, and carry out tasks that may be assigned to you.
