Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY

The overall objective and purpose of the Senior Interior Designer position is to develop hospitality design projects from concept to completion. This role requires a blend of innovative design talent, technical expertise, strong project management and collaboration skills.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, specify, draft, and integrate all elements of interior design and architecture including, but not limited to, furniture plans, architectural details including ceilings, walls, floors, window heights, columns, millwork and other built-ins, kitchens and bathrooms and other construction documents.
  • Design and specify FF&E as required. Obtain necessary manufacturer quotes for project.
  • Specify fabrics, floor coverings, wall coverings, lighting, window treatments, furniture, and any other items as necessary per project requirements. Serve as project lead or collaborate with Creative Director as appropriate on project.
  • Develop conceptual designs, create mock-ups, and complete with CAD/or Revit drawings and renderings as necessary.
  • Perform drafting of spaceplane, furniture plans, furniture install plans, custom designs, construction drawings and renderings as required.
  • Work closely with Creative Director on specific project design elements.
  • Create project documentation to determine full scope of work, completion of schedules, and any other relevant items.
  • Maintain continual two-way communication with Creative Director and project team regarding project and details. Keep all interested parties apprised of significant events.
  • Manage interior designers workload and tasks. Oversee completion.
  • Work with the Corporate Procurement Manager on new and Cap Ex projects. Provide necessary information and collaboration to ensure a successful project outcome.
  • Create project budgets.
  • Identify, receive, and document problems. Provide solutions to Creative Director, handle, and follow-up.
  • Meet and communicate with Creative Director and other leadership as necessary to complete project components.
  • Travel as necessary to support projects. Visit job site as needed.
  • Serve as liaison with vendors to provide direction and/or to obtain pertinent information to create detailed proposals for Creative Director knowledge and approval. This includes preparation of necessary spreadsheets required to disseminate selections and processing of detailed proposals.
  • Track and process expenses according to procedure.
  • Manage all phases of design projects from initial concept through to final installation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership stakeholders, and internal teams to understand project goals and deliver successful design solutions.
  • Work in tandem with architects, engineers, and other consultants to seamlessly integrate interior design with the overall brand vision.
  • Create detailed design drawings, specifications, and material selections. Use CAD, Revit, and other design software to produce precise plans and 3D models.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure design intent is maintained, and address any issues that arise during construction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software including, but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to speak effectively and professionally with individuals or groups inside and outside of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize, organize, and act efficiently and with urgency.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks at any given time.
  • Ability to lead and mentor Interior Designers, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to design excellence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, License, Certifications, Experience

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in interior design required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in interior design, with a significant focus on boutique hospitality projects required
  • Strong portfolio showcasing innovative and luxurious boutique hotel design projects required
  • NCIDQ certification or equivalent - preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office.
  • Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
